Did you know that since 177, the median home price in the bay area has increased about 00%? In Santa Clara County about 8,000 new jobs were recently created; in that same time, only about 4,000 new housing units became available. More than 60% of employees in the Bay Area live outside the Bay Area like Tracy, Stockton, Modesto, Antioch, Pittsburgh and so on because they can not afford the high priced housing in the Bay Area.

What is affordable housing? To the federal government, housing is considered affordable if it cost no more than 0% of the monthly house income for rent and utilities. For example, if your household income is somewhere about $60,000 dollars a year then you should pay no more than $1,500 dollars a month for your rent and utilities put together. Another way to look at it is if you are in a sales job making only $1.00 dollars an hour then you should not be paying no more than $64 dollars a month in rent and utilities together. But as you know, that’s way of the picture when it comes to the Bay Area. In order to be able to afford at least a two bedroom apartment in the Bay Area you have to earn at least $7.6 an hour. As far as the rest of the U.S., you can earn only about $1.87 and still be able to afford a two bedroom apartment. House Prices rise every year making it harder and harder for a middle class family to afford to live in the Bay Area. From last year 001 to this year 00 they say that the housing price went up .%. In the Bay Area houses that were about $8,000 last year in 001 are now about $417,000 this year in 00. So you can see the difference in just one year. Think about how high housing prices and how difficult it will be to be able to live in the Bay Area about ten years from now.

Why build affordable housing and who needs it? People who live in affordable housing today want safe, decent housing for the same reasons that we all do. Those reasons are mainly to provide a nurturing environment to raise their children. Another reason is to remain in the community where they were raised or to become part of a community in which they want to settle. Finally, to live in an attractive, safe environment that they can afford. People who need affordable housing are ones that are employed as secretaries, school teachers, local government employees, restaurant workers and sales clerks. These workers need affordable housing because of the wide gap between what they earn and what housing costs. Others who need affordable housing are seniors and people with disabilities. Seniors have a hard time trying to affording housing because they have fixed incomes that they rely on such as pensions and social security. Disabled people are also living with limited incomes which makes it hard for them to afford a house in the Bay Area and need affordable housing

There are many things to consider when opening a gift shop under a partnership. In this paper I will discuss some of the major considerations needed. I will talk about the different partnerships that can be formed to open a gift shop.

One of the very first things to consider is what type of partnership to form and whom the capital to start the partnership will come from. Each partner has the opportunity to invest capital into the partnership in the form of tangible assets, services or funds. The responsibility of each partner must also be defined when conducting business. Deciding these issues can help you decide what type of partnership you want to create.

There are two types of partnerships that can be formed when opening a gift shop, which include the general partnership and the limited partnership. The Uniform Partnership Act (UPA) codifies the general partnership whereas the Revised Uniform Limited Partnership Act (RULPA) codifies the limited partnership. I will discuss each of the partnerships briefly in the following paragraph.

Under the general partnership each partner has an equal stake in the company. All partners have a vested interest in the partnership and are equally liable for any debts incurred by the company. Each partner has as much authority as the other unless stated otherwise.

Limited partnerships work a little differently. Each partner can be listed as a general a limited partner. The only stipulation is that the partnership must have at least one general partner and one limited partner. The general partner invests capital, manages the business and is personally liable for all partnership debts. The limited partner invests capital but does not manage the business and is not liable for partnership debts beyond capital contributed.

Each of these partnerships is not taxed as a company. The income is taxed when each partner files an individual tax return. Each of these companies also must file a certificate of partnership with the respective secretary of state in which the partnership is created. This is only a brief synopsis of the different types of partnerships that can be created when opening up a gift shop. There are always plenty of considerations to be made, but the most important is to know what type of partnership suits your individual situation.

Social events for married couples happened for the most part at church or at bowling leagues. Families hung out often and the relationship with each other grew. Families today are more distant and there are hardly any relationships with friends and neighbors. A night out at a romantic movie was very common but these movies didn’t have any nudity like today. Country Western was the music that was listened to. As the years pasted the movies became more liberal and the Rock-n-Roll was the well-known genre.

Parents’ supervision on their kids was constant and varied by age. Parents told their kids that they were to go to school and come home right after. When the kids were a bit older their parents told them to be home by the time the street light came on. If the kids wanted to go do something with their friends and needed transportation, the parents were it. This continued until they got their license at age 16. There weren’t any disagreements with any of the authority given by the parents. Except when the kids went to college and thought they had more freedom there.

The dress code for school was button shirt and slacks for the men and a dress for the women. Kids in lower grades admired the kids in the higher grades. The hung out with them and learned from them. Dating wasn’t towering when he was attending school. If there was any dating usually happening around age 16, school was the place they spent time together. They went to athletic games and dances together. Pregnancy was very low in school for unmarried relationships; families despised the idea of it. The response if it happened was being kicked out of school and social disgrace.

Families in no way under any circumstance agree upon divorce. Dave knew of very few, if any, who were divorced. Relationships were built on commitment and they worked their problem out no matter what. People who were single were this way because of the struggle between career and family, so they chose career over marriage.

In William Shakespeare’s play, Hamlet, regarding a Danish prince whose uncle murders his father, weds his mother, and claims the throne there are many different aspects of the play which make it one of the most mystifying and all time favorite American plays ever written. Among these, some of the key aspects are the themes of the play comprised of a mystery story, ghost story, and story of revenge.

In the story of Hamlet there is a great deal of mystery which never really ends. The first mystery that we encounter is the question of whether or not the ghost really is Hamlet’s deceased father or not. The Ghost appears at Elsinor to Marcellus, Barnardo, & Horatio in the opening scene. Then Horatio goes to speak to Hamlet telling him, “A figure like your father…Appears before them and with solemn march…”(Act 1.). Hamlet has reservations about whether or not the figure they had seen was his father or not so he decides to go see for himself. In Act 1.5 Hamlet speaks privately to the ghost when he proceeds to tell Hamlet that, “I am thy father’s spirit…Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder…Now, Hamlet hear. ‘Tis given out that, sleeping in my orchard, A serpent stung me. So the whole ear of Denmark is by a forged process of my death Rankly abused. But know, thou noble youth, The serpent that did thing thy father’s life Now wears his crown.” With each passing word Hamlet stands in disbelief, not knowing whether or not he should believe this figure that stands before him or if it is an evil spirit trying to manipulate Hamlet into doing immoral acts.

Thus being one of the biggest mysteries of the play, the ghost is also another major theme of the story. The ghost sets the tone of the play by tying all three of the themes together. With the coming of the ghost, Hamlet becomes to act very suspicious to leave Claudius speculating about what he has up his sleeve. Hamlet begins to go along with the ghost in believing that his uncle, Claudius, really did kill his father. The Ghost also makes sure that Gertrude can not see him in Act III.4 when he speaks to Hamlet telling him, “Do not forget. This visitation Is but to whet thy almost blunted purpose. But look, amazement on thy mother sits. O, step between her and her fighting soul! Conceit in weakest bodies strongest works. Speak to her Hamlet.”. The ghost also keeps reiterating to Hamlet the importance of getting revenge on Claudius.

The final theme of the play is revenge. We hear of revenge all throughout the play starting with the ghosts request to Hamlet to avenge his murder. Hamlet speaks of getting revenge on his uncle for his father’s death, but before he does this he puts on a play in which his father’s death is acted out to get Claudius’ reaction. Hamlet gets to avenge his father’s death, but not before he is struck with a poisoned tip by Laertes who got his revenge on Hamlet for taking his father’s life, Polonius. Fortinbras wants revenge on Denmark to avenge his father’s name because he was killed by the late Hamlet. All through the play he is in the background and finally gets his revenge at the end by taking over the kingdom.

The three themes of Hamlet, the mystery, ghost, and revenge stories all sum up why William Shakespeare’s drama of Hamlet is among the most loved and confusing stories of all time. There is always some mystery left unsolved and room for the audience to interpret things how they see fit.

ABOUT THE BOOK

“Most Wanted, Profiles of Terror” is the biography of six militant who through their respective organization hold out the maximum threat to India. The book has been divided into seven parts, according to its table of content. Well known counter terrorism expert K.P.S.Gill’s introduction gives an insightful overview while the other authors have profiled leaders of six important militant organization to provide rich, often frightening details of their skills and expertise. These six, so called, terrorists are “most wanted” not only because of their past activities but also because of the threat they continue to hold out.

Apart from giving the background of the militant attitude, the writers have also provided a glimpse of their modus operandi, their beliefs, aims and motives and how they rouse people to follow their course of jihad. K.P.S. Gill, in his introduction, describe heavily on his experience of tackling militancy in Punjab to maintain that it is not possible to get the militants to the discussion without first defeating them on the ground.

At the very first, in the list is the man President Bush desperately wants dead or alive, Osama bin Laden. Rahimullah Yususzai, a Pakistani journalist, charts Osama’s life from his childhood in Saudi Arabia. Furious by the presence of infidel’ Americans in his country, he affirms to take revenge on them. Later, he also targets Israel and India to his hit list. Hounded out of his homeland, he first settled in Sudan and then in Afghanistan where he found in the Taliban a perfect ally to fulfill his plans. The US action in Afghanistan and the fall of the Taliban did not change him a bit. He is believed to have escaped the US bombings and from his unidentified hideout, he calls upon Muslims all over the world to carry on his jihad. He reasons that the anti-Us bombings took place because of his calls and warnings as he said

“If the instigation for jihad against the Americans and Israelis to liberate the Al-Aqsa mosque and Holy Ka’aba is considered a crime, let history be witness that I am a criminal.”

When the Government of India released Maulana Masood Azhar, the chief of the Jaish-e-Mohammed or the Army of the prophet, and two others in exchange for the passengers of IC-814, hijacked from Katmandu to Kandahar in December 1, they did not realize (in the words of Harinder Baweja) that he was a live bomb that had been ticking all the six years that he was behind bars. A man who introduces jihadi feelings into a revolution, which had initially started as a battle for independence. He was happy playing role of journalist through Sada-I-Mujahid until the demolition of Babri Masjid at Ayodhya on 6 Dec 1.Thus turning his attention towards India and Kashmir. He was skilled orator and so started a department of motivation. To visit India his purpose was to aid the Kashmiri Mujahideen in their struggle against Hindu India and to boost the morale of freedom fighters. Today, his Jaish-e-Mohammad is one of the most dreaded terrorist outfits in Kashmir. Now, under US pressure, Gen Pervez Musharraf has put him in detention, but this detention is rather symbolic. He is able to contact anyone outside, and continues to direct the activities of his Jaish.

For Prof Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, chief of Lashkar-e-Toiba, records Amir Mir, another Pakistani journalist, killing is a ‘pious’ man’s obligation, and the professor considers himself a very ‘pious’ man. He is an academician and is well known for his guerrilla attacks in Kashmir and attack on Red Fort in New Delhi in 000. His outfit has to account for more than 15000 lives in Kashmir, including those of a large number of Lashkar-e-Toiba militants. Since its launch in 11, the Lashkar has set up six military training camps in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, 500 offices in Pakistan and two dozen launching camps along the Line of Control. Professor’s past has been bloody, with a cause for revenge as thirty six members of his family had been murdered during the partition in 147.His two main targets are India and Israel since they are main enemies of Islam and Pakistan. Lashkar has been claiming responsibility for various acts of terrorism not only in Kashmir but also in India. However, Professor believes in one voice that is God, which he says authoritatively,

“This jihad has been commanded by Allah Almighty and no one can stop it.”

The Indian authorities as one of their most wanted men have marked Mohammad Yusuf Shah, alias Syed Salahuddin, Supreme Commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen, from Kashmir. His followers call him Pir sahib and believe that he possesses supernatural powers, records Zafar Meraj. Having great love for independence and Pakistan, he began to through speeches and conducted pro-Pakistan seminars, at early stages of his life. Besides serving the jamaat, his mission was to preach, whether traveling, at home, outside, public places or even in jail. The authorities termed his preaching anti-national activities as he also worked with pro-freedom organizations. The Hizbul Mujahideen was set up in 18 by merging different jehadi groups. Today, Salahuddin commands his boys from his base in Azad Kashmir with the help of a highly modern communication network and Hizb is considered the most powerful and probably the only original Kashmiri militant group .His life is seen as one which withstood great changes, as spending 45 years in cities, doing imamant (holding the office of an imam) enjoying public speaking, teaching students and leading a family life he became leader of Hizb. He began living in jungles and deserted places, cut off from the world, from worldly comforts and family ties. Indian soldiers set various traps to capture Salahudin but he eluded them each time. Amongst the most wanted in the list of twenty, submitted to Pakistan by Indians government, Salahudin is a virtual prisoner.

Indian journalist Subir Bhaumik plan the career of railway porter-turned-militant, Paresh Barua who claims to be the Commander-in-Chief of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA). Even though his violent movement has almost petered out, he still fancies himself, as a modern-day Lachit Barphukan, who defeated the Mughal army in 167.He, is considered violent and armed. It is also said that he lives on money obtained from robbery or extortion and can even handle and produce weapons. He is said to have obtained arms and guerrilla training under NSCN, KIA, and ISI of Pakistan. He ordered and approved kidnappings, killings and extortion, band dacoity and other violent activities by ULFA .His passion for Assam’s freedom have not waned and he is convinced that it is not a wasted dream. The struggle has just begun, he maintains.

Velupilai Prabhakaran, the Chief of LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam), is a man who ordered the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi and later acknowledged it as a mistake, is a kind of religious group who has trained men and women of the LTTE to the extent that they renounce their family ties, friends and marital pleasures. Velupilai Prabhakaran never initiates an assassination without worshipping Kali, the Mother Goddess who combines in her the creative and destructive attributes of the Supreme Power. His followers are totally devoted to the idea of a Tamil state in Sri Lanka and have abiding loyalty to Prabhakaran. R. Rajagopalan records that the LTTE has carried out at least five times the number of suicide attacks than all other similar organizations put together. Therefore peace in Sri Lanka has no chance until the Tamils are counted and valued.

Other then the biographies two annexure that is the additional material or document is also given in the book related to some excerpts from Omer Sheikh and Masood Azhar’s interrogation reports.

CRITICAL ANALSIS

Critically speaking, The “Profiles of Terror” assumes great significance and has been carried out with intelligence and great sensitivity by the authors. The profiles produce a picture of complex realities of terrorism. The book helps understand pattern of mobilization for terrorist activities and also what happens in democratic societies when they are confronted with violence of this type. More over this book also helps to understand the unusual demand of terrorist leaders and movement and the pattern of support they make.

At present there is little awareness of the terrorist mass mobilization. Therefore there is confusion over the nature, which is regarded in great crisis and mistakenly come to regard them as terrorist, instead of what they actually are.

Through the read of the profile of this book, we come to make judgment our self whether the, so-called, terrorist carry out crime or is it the way Allah has commanded them for their Jihad.

The authors of this book “Profiles O Terror” have shown a just attitude to their writing. They have been totally unbiased on portraying the real situation. The text is easy to read with expression that stands out for both brevity and clarity. However sometimes one needs to refer back to a certain section when it fits in with the overall plot. The situations are well described and helps to keep readers absorbed in the text, but sometimes like in Subir Bhaumik`s writing, the detail seems not to be revealed, therefore with one’s finger inadvertently trying to flip the page.

“Profiles of Terror” is a type of book that is good for basic read, in order to know and understand the terrorist’s, their aims and purposes, behind their acts, which never stops to inform you more, till the last page is turned. More over the best part in the book are the pictures of the most wanted terrorist, which have been given on the very start of each profile, making an image in our minds of the person we are reading.

“Historical Dictionary of Terrorism” by Sean K Anders, Stephen Sloan, Bhashyam Kasturi is a similar book dealing with the profiles of European terrorists published in 00, as given information and detail biography of the terrorist or their organizations.

Other books have also been published individually, related to the most wanted terrorist, for example book on Osama Bin Laden giving it the name “Bin Laden - Behind the Mask of the Terrorist” by Adam Robinson.
